Weezer – Make Believe

“Make Believe”

While the early years of Weezer (pre-Y2K) are full of perfection, Make Believe embodies the faults of “Post-Pinkerton” Weezer – inclusion of an absolute atrocity of a song (or two) on an album, errors in execution (in this case, production), and flashes of pure brilliance. Weezer fans view Make Believe poorly for reasons stated above, but the exclusion of Rick Rubin and the complete re-write of history to delete Beverly Hills from human knowledge would leave a very strong/enjoyable album. We’ve heard many of the demos from the Green through Make Believe days and there are plenty of diamonds in the rough.
