Mumford & Sons – Babel

Mumford & Sons

There was something special about the first Mumford & Sons album, an album with such high praise that I wanted to hate it, but it was too diverse and good to hate.  On Babel the band seems to just re-hash the same formula that made them huge, adding little to no real emotion/meaning behind their sound.  To make matters worse, the album was already declared a success and “one of the best of the year” before even being released.  There might be something here that saves the album, but I cannot find it.

Grade: D

Favorite Track: Holland Road

Second Favorite: I Will Wait
